UF Hillel’s Student Leadership Engine

Hillel at the University of Florida is excited to be launching it’s very own leadership board for this upcoming academic year.

Manoa, which means engine in Hebrew, strives to put students in the driver seat to craft and carry forward the vision and agenda for UF Hillel working in tandem with our Program Staff while building partnerships with other [Jewish] clubs on campus.

Manoa is comprised of 6 team captains on the following themes: Shabbat and Holiday, Social, Tzedek, Israel, Learning Initiatives, and Arts.  Each Team Captain is responsible for recruiting at least 5 students to serve on their team; so if you’re interested in getting involved please reach out to one of the Team Captains.

Jeremy Bailys – Shabbat & Holiday - jeremy23@ufl.edu

Jeremy Bailys was born on May 23, 1988 and is currently a sophomore at the University of Florida.  He was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida.  Along with his new position as Shabbat and Holiday Captain for Hillel, he is also the USY advisor for the B’nai Israel chapter in Gainesville, Florida.   And most importantly, he is majoring in Finance and plans on ruling the world one day.

Brian Finkel – Social - bfinkel333@aol.com

Brian is a senior Political Science major at the University of Florida.  After getting his start at Hillel working on Purim Palooza, he hasn't looked back and is now excited to be the social wheel of the Manoa engine.  His favorite Jewish holiday is Hanukkah and he prides himself on being the "nice Jewish boy" you can take home to your mother.

Carly Fleisher – Tzedek - carcar88@ufl.edu

Carly Fleisher is a 3rd year student majoring in psychology and minoring in religion. Post graduation, she plans to work for non-profit social justice organizations and also wants to become a teacher. Carly considers herself both a tree-hugger and people-lover. As our Tzedek intern next year, she intends to create a sustainable and eco-friendly environment at Hillel. In addition, she wants to unite individuals in our community through the common mission of Tikum Olam.

Brandon Glantz – Grinspoon Fellow (Israel) - glantzb@gmail.com

Born and raised in South Florida, Brandon Glantz enjoys long walks on the beach and Israel advocacy. Since there are no beaches in Gainesville, Brandon has focused all of his time on Israel advocacy. Brandon has been involved with Gators for Israel, Hasbara and AIPAC. With his past experiences, he hopes to increase student Israel advocacy at the University of Florida.

Joel Lewis – Learning Initiatives – joel.e.lewis@gmail.com

Joel Lewis is a 3rd year finance major and has been involved in student government and several business school organizations.  Joel went on birthright this past winter and (aside from learning how to sleep in 10 minute intervals) decided to learn more about his Jewish heritage.  Joel likes to learn, read way too much, has talked to astronauts while they were in space, and is a 2nd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do.  He looks forward to developing programs that are educational and insightful from secular and Jewish viewpoints.

Mallory Zuckerman- Arts - malz4321@ufl.edu

O great Creator of being, grant us one more hour to perform our art and perfect our lives.”  -Jim Morrison

Mallory Zuckerman is thrilled to return to the University of Florida in the fall as an incoming sophomore studying Public Relations and Music Performance. In her short time here, Mallory has become heavily involved with No Southern Accent, PRSSA, the UF Performing Arts Center, and of course, Hillel. Having fallen in love with every aspect of the arts at the age of three, Mallory cannot wait to lend her experience, creativity and passion for music to the
Hillel Staff to enhance the arts programming on campus.
